Engreitz, Beers Receive Weekly Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — WASHINGTON senior Ruby Engreitz and UTAH senior Cortni Beers have been awarded Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week and Pac-12 Special Performance of the Week honors, respectively, for the week of Jan. 23-29, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
Senior Ruby Engreitz led her Washington squad to the upset victory over then- No. 1 UCLA, 195.350-194.600. The Kirkland, Wash., native set a new career-high on the floor, winning the event with a 9.875. Engreitz also set a new season-high in the all-around competition, winning the event with a 39.325. Setting new season-highs would continue to be a theme for senior, notching a 9.800 on vault, 9.850 on bars and a 9.800 on the beam.
Beers, a native of Tulsa, Okla., helped the Ute gymnastics team earn its highest score since the 2009 NCAA Regionals in a 197.550-194.450 win over BYU in front of over 15,000 people. Beers helped secure the victory for the Utes by nailing the first of four straight 9.900 routines for Utah. She also won the beam event, with a score of 9.900.
