January Divers of the Month

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - STANFORD freshman Kristian Ipsen and ARIZONA sophomore Samantha Pickens have been named Pac-12 Divers of the Month for January, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.

Ipsen won all six events in January, sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the Stanford Invitational and then in dual meets against Arizona and Arizona State. Ipsen scored no lower than 437.48 on the 3-meter, including a season-high 467.33 against the Wildcats. He also recorded a best of 420.75 to win the 1-meter at the Stanford Invitational.

Pickens broke the Arizona school record on the 3-meter with a 364.50 against Texas last month. The previous record was 362.55, set by Tiffany Manning in 2006. Pickens also captured victories on the 1-meter against California, Stanford and Texas.

This is the second straight Diver of the Month honor for both Ipsen and the first for Pickens. It is Stanford's fourth monthly honor on the men's side. Arizona has won two women's awards.
