Another Sweep For OSU Gymnastics
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — OREGON STATE teammates Makayla Stambaugh and Leslie Mak have been awarded Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week and Pac-12 Special Performance of the Week honors, respectively, for the week of Feb. 13-19, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
Stambaugh, a junior from Sacramento, Calif, had a solid performance in Friday's tri-meet against California and No. 7 UCLA. Oregon State would need a great performance in its final rotation to salvage a tie with UCLA. Stambaugh delivered with a strong performance on the floor, winning the event with a score of 9.925. The junior also took the all-around title, scoring a 39.425.
Senior Leslie Mak had a brilliant routine on the balance beam. The senior from Toronto, Ontario, tied her career high, scoring a 9.950, including earning a perfect 10.0 from one judge. Her 9.950 on the beam was her second in as many weeks and the third of the season. Mak also had a strong performance on the uneven bars, earning a 9.875. This is the second Special Performance of the Week honor for Mak this season, with the first selection on Jan. 24. She also took Gymnast of the Week honors on Jan. 17 and Feb. 14.
