Stanford Presented With Pac-12 Trophy
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - STANFORD was presented with the first-ever Pac-12 Women's Basketball regular-season trophy on Thursday night. The Cardinal claimed its 12th-straight Conference crown on Saturday with an 81-46 win over Oregon in Eugene.
The Cardinal returned home to face COLORADO on Thursday night riding a 76-game home-winning streak, the nation's longest active win streak. Stanford defeated the Buffs, 68-48, to extend that streak to 77 games. It also now boasts a record 73-game win streak over Conference opponents (including postseason games) and have won 22-straight games overall this season.
The Cardinal have won 21 Conference titles all-time. With the regular-season crown, the Cardinal also claim the first bye at the Pacific Life Pac-12 Basketball Tournament in Los Angeles, March 7-10, and the top-seed in the tournament, as well.
Ranked second in the country in both major national polls this week, Stanford has two more Conference games and one non-conference tilt slated before it heads down to the Pac-12 Tournament.
The full bracket and seedings for the Pacific Life Pac-12 Basketball Tournament will be announced on Sunday, March 4. The first two days of the tournament will be held at Galen Center on the campus of USC. The semifinal and championship games will be played at STAPLES Center for the second-straight year, and will be televised live on Fox Sports Net (FSN). Check local listings.
