Record-Setting Cal Swims Into First Place at NCAAs
A record-setting day for California propelled the defending NCAA champion into first place at the NCAA Championships on Thursday, the first day of the national meet. The Golden Bears captured the 400-yard medley relay and junior Caitlin Leverenz won the 200-yard individual medley in NCAA and U.S. Open records, and senior Liv Jensen posted a school record in winning the second 50-yard freestyle title of her career.
Two School-Records and an NCAA Title on Day One
Stanford Swimming opened up the 2012 NCAA Championships with an NCAA title and school-record in the 200 free relay and are in second place after the first of three days. Maya DiRado added a third finish in the 200 individual medley and Betsy Webb with a school-record was fourth in the 50 free to highlight other Cardinal performers.

Senior Victoria Ishimatsu (1-meter springboard) and junior Haley Anderson (500y free) each won their first NCAA titles while junior Katinka Hosszu just missed another in the 200y IM to lead No. 7 USC into a tie for second place after the first night of the 2012 NCAA Championships on Thursday (March 15) at Auburn's James E. Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Ala.
