PAC-12 SOFTBALL NOTES

Pac-12 Conference play begins this week. Fox Sports Arizona will live stream all three games of the Arizona-Arizona State series on FoxSportsArizona.com. Fox Sports Net will carry a tape-delayed broadcast of Friday's Cal-Stanford game. Check local listings for more information.

The Pac-12 has four teams in the top-10 and seven in the top-25 of the national rankings. Despite dropping its first game of the season, Cal is ranked second in both polls.

Washington SO P/DP Kaitlin Inglesby was named USA Softball Player of the Week in addition to Pac-12 Player of the Week. Inglesby led the Huskies to a perfect 4-0 record at the Judi Garman Classic. At the plate, she hit .692 with four runs, nine hits, three doubles, one home run and nine RBI.

Utah SR P Generra Nielson was named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week after throwing a no-hitter against Colgate last week. In the second no-hitter of her career, Nielson tied her personal best with 16 strikeouts and did not issue a walk or allow an earned run.

Arizona picked up two wins at the Judi Garman Classic before getting rained out. FR SS Shelby Pendley drove in five runs and SO P Shelby Babcock tossed a shutout in the 8-0 (6 inn.) win over UC Davis. The Wildcats lead the NCAA in fielding percentage (.985).

Arizona State SR P Hillary Bach moved into a tie for third all-time in school history with 79 wins. She is 13-0 this season with a 0.57 ERA in 73.1 innings of work. She has tallied eight shutouts in 11 starts and allowed just six runs.

Cal suffered its first loss of the season in a 10-inning battle at Hawai'i at the Chevron Spring Fling Tournament. JR P Jolene Henderson had a career high 16 strikeouts in the loss. The Bears finished the tournament with a 4-1 record, which included wins over ranked Texas A&M and Texas teams.

Oregon JR P Jessica Moore struck out 14 and limited No. 1 Alabama to only four hits in last Tuesday's loss. The 14 strikeouts were a career high for Moore and also rank third in the Ducks' single-game records.

UCLA leads the nation with a .371 team batting average. SR OF Katie Schroeder (.452) and SR INF Samantha Camuso (.444) rank sixth and seventh in the Pac-12, respectively.

At 21-7, Oregon State has already exceeded its total number of wins from last year (19). It is the Beavers' best record before Conference play since the 2006 team started 27-2.

Stanford JR P Teagan Gerhart leads the NCAA with 20 victories this season. Gerhart has a 20-1 record and 1.35 ERA heading into league play.
