Oregon Women Ranked No. 1 In Preseason
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- The OREGON women's outdoor track and field team was ranked No. 1 in the preseason based on the National Team Computer Rankings released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today. Five men's and women's teams are ranked in each top-25 poll this week. The Pac-12 has the second-most teams in each of the rankings.
The women Ducks are coming off of winning their third-straight title win at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. USC's women are highly ranked, as well, coming in third in the rating. Also making the top-25 are ARIZONA STATE (17th), ARIZONA (18th) and STANFORD (21st). The women's preseason No. 1 has went on to win the last four national titles.
On the men's side, the high-ranked squad are the Wildcats, coming in 11th, followed by the Trojans (13th), Oregon (16th), the Cardinal (17th) and Sun Devils (20th). UA and ASU both finished in the top five of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Preseason national team rankings are calculated using data from previous seasons as a base of evaluation. Marks gained in the early part of this season will supersede previous-year marks if they are superior. The next ranking is set to be released on April 3.
