PAC-12 SOFTBALL NOTES

California holds the No. 1 ranking in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball polls this week. The Golden Bears topped the USA Softball rankings for five weeks this season, but have not been No. 1 in the NFCA poll since Feb. 23, 2005. Washington and Arizona State also remain in the top-five. Cal will host the Huskies this weekend.

Cal SR 1B/P Valerie Arioto was named Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by the NFCA in addition to Pac-12 Player of the Week. Arioto leads the Bears with a .456 batting average. Her 14 home runs are tied for third in the NCAA (with ASU SR SS Katelyn Boyd).

Arioto's teammate, JR P Jolene Henderson earned Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week for the second time this spring after posting a 0.45 ERA with a 2-0 record and a save last week.

Washington SO P/DP Kaitlin Inglesby powered the Huskies offense in the sweep of Utah. She finished the series with six hits, two runs, eight RBI and two home runs. Inglesby leads the Pac-12 with 46 RBI and is tied for first with 11 doubles.

Arizona State earned three wins over rival Arizona, including a 7-6 win on Sunday after battling back from a 6-0 deficit. FR INF Haley Steele hit her first grand slam to spark the Sun Devils in the fifth inning. SR P Hillary Bach leads the Conference with a 0.77 ERA and moved to third all-time at ASU with 80 career wins.

Oregon State took two of three from Oregon for its third Conference series victory since 2008. SR P/DP Paige Hall lowered her ERA to 1.96 and pushed her record to 10-1 with 6.1 innings of relief work. Hall also hit her team-leading sixth homer of the year in the third game.

Oregon JR P Jessica Moore struck out six and allowed no earned runs as the Ducks won the Pac-12 opener. JR SS Kelsey Chambers went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.

UCLA leads the nation with a .372 team batting average. JR OF B.B. Bates went 3-for-3 with three RBI in the 10-6 win over UC Santa Barbara. Bates has seven games with multiple RBI this season.

Utah SR P Generra Nielson ranks second in the nation with 191 strikeouts. She also leads the Pac-12 with 44 batters struck out looking.

Stanford FR INF Hanna Winter (.442) and JR DP Jenna Rich (.430) rank in the top-10 of the Pac-12 in batting average.

Arizona continues to lead the NCAA with a .983 fielding percentage despite committing four errors last week.
