The Huskies made quick work of Arizona, 4-0, with dominant wins in doubles and singles. In singles action, Washington's Bots defeated Arizona's Urquidi (6-1, 6-1) on court two, UW's McMorrow beat Arizona's Vidaller on the top court (6-3, 6-0) and Washington's Egger defeated Arizona's Shinde (6-1, 6-4) on court three to clinch the victory for Washington. The Huskies will face four-seed CALIFORNIA in the men's quarterfinals on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Libbey Park.
The Utes upended Oregon, 4-0, winning two of three doubles matches and sweeping the singles contests. In doubles, Utah's top pairing of freshman Slim Hamza and sophomore Devin Lane defeated Oregon freshman Daniel Sardu and junior Aaron Clissold in a close one, 8-6; Oregon sophomore Robin Cambier and junior Jeff Mullen beat Utah senior Benito Suriano and junior Dmytro Memedov, 8-5, on the second court; and Utah earned its sole doubles victory via sophomore Alejandro Mendinilla and freshman Ace Matis as they defeated Oregon's No. 3 team of sophomore Alex Rovello and senior Jose Izquierdo, 8-6.
After a 37-minute rain delay interrupted singles action, Utah held strong to sweep the Ducks in singles. Utah's Suriano defeated Oregon's Cambier in a hard-fought contest (7-6 (4), 6-4); Utah's Hamza defeated Oregon's Mullen (7-6 (3), 6-1) and Utah freshman Rafael Davidian (7-5, 6-3) defeated Oregon's Sardu on court four to clinch the win for the Utes.
Utah takes on third-seeded STANFORD at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Libbey Park.
At the Ojai Valley Athletic Club, the Stanford women defeated WASHINGTON STATE, 4-0, in what was a make-up match for the March 25 contest that was rained out in Palo Alto. The Cardinal's victory makes Stanford the Pac-12 co-champions with USC, and gives Stanford the NCAA automatic qualifying bid by virtue of Stanford's head-to-head win over USC on April 13.
Women's singles and doubles action begins Thursday morning.
