PAC-12 SOFTBALL NOTES

In the final weekend of the regular season, the Pac-12 title will be decided as No. 2 Arizona State travels to No. 1 California. The Golden Bears are the unanimous No. 1 and have sat atop both national polls for seven straight weeks. ASU has not been ranked lower than seventh all season.

Since the Pac-12 champion is determined by winning percentage, whichever team captures two of the three games will earn the Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Cal owns a 19-2 (.905) record while ASU is 17-2 (.895) after two games were rained out earlier in the conference season.

The NCAA Division I Softball Selection Announcement will be broadcast on ESPNU on Sunday, May 13 at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET.

Six Pac-12 players were named to the Capital One Academic All-District 8 team. They advance to the Capital One Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team All-America honors will be selected later this month. ASU's Hillary Bach, Katelyn Boyd, Annie Lockwood and Bailey Wigness were named to the first team along with Oregon's Alexa Peterson and Utah's Hannah Clements.

Seven Conference players are among the 25 finalists for the 2012 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award: ASU's Boyd, Cal's Valerie Arioto, Jolene Henderson and Jamia Reid, Stanford's Ashley Hansen and Washington's Kaitlin Inglesby and Kimi Pohlman. A list of 10 finalists will be announced on May 9.

Four players are finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award: Arioto, Boyd, Hansen and Washington's Niki Williams. Fans are encouraged to vote at www.seniorCLASSaward.com through May 14.

The Pac-12 has eight teams in the top 23 of the NCAA RPI, including four in the top 10: Cal (1), ASU (2), Oregon (8) and Arizona (10).

Stanford swept the Pac-12 weekly softball awards. FR OF Cassandra Roulund was named Player of the Week after hitting 6-for-10 (.600) as the Cardinal went 4-0 last week, including a sweep of Washington. It was just Stanford's second Pac-12 series win of the year. Roulund had two doubles and one home run. She scored six runs, tallied eight RBI and posted a 1.100 slugging percentage.

Cardinal JR P Teagan Gerhart was named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week for the fifth time in her career. Gerhart was 3-0 in the circle and registered her first save of the season on Saturday. She allowed just one run in 18.0 innings for a 0.39 ERA after entering the week with a 2.91 ERA.

Pac-12 leading the nation: UCLA (.599 slugging percentage), Cal's Reid (0.9 stolen bases per game) and Cal's Arioto (1.35 walks per game).

ASU's Boyd had four doubles against Utah to become the all-time program leader with 56 in her career. Boyd already holds the school record for RBI with 234.
