NCAA Men's Tennis Round-Up
BERKELEY, Calif. - The 14th-ranked California men's tennis team (13-11) earned a 4-0 win against UTSA (13-11) in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships at the Hellman Tennis Complex on Saturday, May 12. The Golden Bears advance to face No. 22 Texas Tech (16-8) in a 1 p.m. PT second-round match on Sunday, May 13. This is the third consecutive time that Cal has won its first-round match. Last year, the Bears moved into the round of 16.
STANFORD, Calif. - No. 11 Stanford chalked up a 4-1 victory over No. 39 Santa Clara on Sunday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium, earning a berth in next weekend's NCAA Championships round of 16.
LOS ANGELES - The fourth-seeded UCLA men's tennis team earned a place in the round of 16 of the NCAA Championships on Sunday, downing 27th-ranked San Diego, 4-0 in an NCAA Second Round match at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins (24-3) now head to Athens, Ga. where they will meet 13th-seeded Ole Miss (15-8) on Friday at Noon (EST) at Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
LOS ANGELES - The top-ranked USC men's tennis team defeated No. 30 Texas A&M, 4-0, in the second round of the 2012 Men's Tennis Championship on Sunday (May 13) at USC's Marks Tennis Stadium.
MALIBU, Calif. - The Husky men's tennis team bowed out of the NCAA Championships today in the second round, unable to topple seventh-seeded Pepperdine on the Waves' home Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. Washington was leading or even in the final three singles matches, but Pepperdine stopped the match with a win at No. 4 singles for the 4-0 victory.
