Two Named NCBWA Freshman All-Americans

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - OREGON STATE outfielder Michael Conforto and UCLA RHP David Berg have been named to the 2012 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Freshman All-American Team, as announced by the NCBWA on Monday.

Conforto is a first-team honoree after hitting .349 on the year and ending the season as the Conference leader in RBI (76), slugging percentage (.601) and total bases (131), and tying for first in home runs (13). He is also the Louisville Slugger Freshman Player of the Year, Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and an all-Conference selection.

Berg is a second-team honoree with a 5-3 record and 1.58 ERA through the weekend as the Bruins secured a spot in the College World Series. The reliever is a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and an all-Conference selection.
