By the Pac-12 Conference
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - COLORADO forward Anne Stuller and UCLA defender Abby Dahlkemper have been named Pac-12 women's soccer players of the week for the week of Aug. 20-27, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday.
Stuller, a junior from Boulder, Colo., turned in a pair of two-goal preformances in the Omni Hotels Colorado Women's Soccer Classic to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors. She scored both goals in Colorado's 2-0 win over LIU Brooklyn on Friday. On Sunday, she netted a go-ahead goal in the 27th minute and added a late insurance goal to propel the Buffs to a 2-1 win. She has scored six of Colorado's seven goals this season, and on Sunday, she became the first player in program history to post three multiple-goal games through the first four games of a season.
Dahlkemper, a sophomore defender from Menlo Park, Calif., scored the game-winning goal in the 39th minute against Fresno State on Friday and added an assist in a shutout win over No. 22 Illinois on Sunday to take home Defensive Player of the Week honors. Dahlkemper contributed to a defensive unit that allowed just four shots (one shot on goal) in Friday's 2-0 victory over Fresno State. Her assist on Sunday sparked the first of two second-half goals in a 2-0 decision over the Illini.
This is the first weekly honor for Dahlkemper, who is UCLA's 30th all-time Player of the Week. For Stuller, this also marks her first Pac-12 Player of the Week accolade. She is Colorado's second consecutive Player of the Week recipient.
UCLA hosts No. 14 Wisconsin at 7 p.m. PT on Friday, while Colorado returns to the pitch on Sunday in a road matchup with Northwestern.
