A Look Ahead
The Pac-12 Conference season gets going in both women's volleyball and women's soccer this week, and the Pac-12 Networks will be there -- a lot -- to bring it to you.
The conference volleyball season gets underway Tuesday night with rivalry matches between Arizona and Arizona State and No. 5 Washington and Washington State. Both begin at 7 p.m. and both air on the networks. Then there will be three more conference openers on Wednesday with No. 6 Stanford hosting Cal, Oregon State visiting No. 8 Oregon and Utah traveling to Colorado -- all at 7 p.m. and all on the networks.
Throw in four more matches on Friday night and the networks will be televising nine over a four-day period.
The networks will be there for women's soccer, as well. No. 3 UCLA and Washington State have the stage all to themselves for the first Pac-12 Conference game of the season, Thursday at 7 p.m. There will be three more conference openers on the networks Friday -- No. 23 Washington visits USC while Cal hosts Arizona at 2 p.m. Then at 4 p.m., Oregon hosts Colorado. The first week of Pac-12 play on the networks closes out Sunday when third-ranked Stanford hosts Arizona State.
An intriguing football matchup looms Saturday when No. 13 USC hosts Cal at the L.A. Coliseum. The Trojans should be highly motivated after their surprising loss at Stanford on Saturday. And the Bears, although they lost, proved they can compete with top teams by going toe-to-toe at Ohio State before losing by a touchdown over the weekend. The game begins at 3 p.m. and is the first of a Pac-12 Networks double header of football. At 7 p.m., Arizona State hosts Utah. The Sun Devils are coming off a tough 24-20 road loss at Missouri while the Utes pulled out a wild 24-21 win over BYU in which the crowd stormed the field three times before the game was finally declared over.
Finally on the networks this week, it's the last week of nonconference play for men's soccer. Before the onslaught of volleyball matches that evening, Stanford hosts Loyola at 4 p.m. Then three matches air on the networks Sunday -- Loyola at Cal, Seattle at No. 20 Washington and UC Irvine at Oregon State.
