Stanford's Batteer named Pac-12 men's soccer player of the week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - STANFORD sophomore forward Zach Batteer was named the Pac-12 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 1-7, the Conference announced today.
Batteer, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., tallied four points on the week with a pair of goals in the 2-0 win against CALIFORNIA. Batteer came off the bench to score just 18 seconds before the end of the half when he hit a long header off a cross to give the Cardinal a 1-0 lead. In the 78th minute, the sophomore scored again with a header off a cross to secure the win. Batteer now has six points in 10 games on the season.
It is Batteer's first-career weekly honor. It is Stanford's 14th all-time player of the week and first this season.
The Cardinal hits the road to Oregon State on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m., then heads to Washington on Sunday, Oct. 14. The game versus the Huskies will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks. Stanford's matches will be broadcasted in seven of the unprecedented 28 live Pac-12 men's soccer contests on the Networks this season.
