Nearly halfway through the Pac-12 season and STANFORD stands alone at the top of the Conference standings as the only team undefeated in league play ... After a pair of wins over the Los Angeles teams last week, the Cardinal jumped to No. 2 in the AVCA National Coaches poll, making it the fifth Pac-12 team to be ranked that high this season alone. Only UCLA, ranked No. 6 this week, has been ranked higher in 2012 (No. 1 twice). Five teams continue to be ranked in the top seven of the poll with OREGON earning a No. 3 ranking, following by WASHINGTON at No. 5, and USC rounds out the top seven in the country ... Getting past the front line in the Pac-12 is tough when half the league's teams are ranked in the top 25 in the NCAA in blocks per set, led by the Huskies' 3.33 blocks per set. Pac-12 teams have found success, however, with five teams also ranking in the top 25 in hitting percentage ... UTAH and UCLA kick off the week on the Pac-12 Networks on Wednesday, Oct. 17. The Utes have been nearly inpenetrable the last two seasons at the net, ranking in the top five in the nation in blocks per set. This year, Utah goes into the match ranked fourth. The defending NCAA Champion Bruins will be tough to defeat on their home court, ranking in the top 25 in the nation in assists, blocks and kills per set, as well as hitting percentage ... UO's Alaina Bergsma has been named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year. Stanford's Kyle Gilbert was the Defensive Player of the Week and teammate Inky Ajanaku was selected the Freshman of the Week.
