By the Pac-12 Conference
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA forward Rosie White and CALIFORNIA goalkeeper Emily Kruger were named Pac-12 Women's Soccer Players of the Week for the week of October 8 - October 14.
White, a sophomore from Auckland, New Zealand, scored the game-winning goal, her third of the season, in a 1-0 win at Washington on Friday to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors. She scored with 1:15 remaining in the first half to put UCLA ahead, and the Bruins held on to win their fifth Pac-12 road game this season. She notched three shots, two of which were on target, in 73 minutes of action as the Bruins improved to 12-0-2 on the year. White ranks third on the team in scoring with four goals and 10 points, and her three game-winners are good for second on the squad (tied for fourth in the Conference).
Kruger, a junior from Woodside, Calif., collected six saves on nine total shots and posted her fifth clean sheet of the season in a 2-0 victory over Arizona State on Friday to take home Defensive Player of the Week accolades. She notched four of her six saves in the second half to help Cal run its winning streak to six games. Kruger has tallied 47 saves in 14 games this season, averaging 3.29 stops per contest. She ranks fourth in the Pac-12 in goals-against average (0.88), fifth (tied) in shutouts per game (3.29) and sixth in save percentage (0.793).
This is the first weekly honor for White, who is UCLA's 34th all-time Player of the Week. For Kruger, this marks her first Pac-12 Player of the Week accolade. She is California's 25th Player of the Week recipient.
UCLA, which wrapped up a five-game road trip on Friday, returns home to take on Colorado and Utah this weekend, while Cal hosts Washington and Washington State.
