Pac-12 Men's Basketball Media Day: What to watch for

Media days are whipping through Pac-12 Networks HQ here in San Francisco. Last week, the women's coaches and players were in town. Men's basketball takes center stage this Thursday. The event will be live streaming on Pac-12.com starting at 10 a.m. PT.

Here are some storylines to follow on media day and the upcoming season:

  • Perennial national powerhouses Arizona and UCLA are slated to have big comeback seasons and potentially be in the mix for a trip to Atlanta and the Final Four come April. How do coaches Sean Miller and Ben Howland plan to handle these expectations for teams that are loaded with young talent?
  • Don't forget about Colorado just yet. The inaugural Pac-12 tournament champions might have lost three key seniors from a year ago, but the Buffaloes return one of the best rebounders -- if not, the best -- in the country in André Roberson along with sophomore sensations Spence Dinwiddie and Askia Booker to go along with a nationally-ranked recruiting class. What can the Buffs do for an encore in 2012-13? #rolltad
  • A former Pac-12 great returns to his alma mater as an assistant coach as Mark Madsen makes his collegiate coaching debut with the Stanford Cardinal this season. How much will this year's Cardinal post players mirror the man known for his selflessness, tenacity and competitiveness?
  • USC and Utah finished in the bottom two spots of the Pac-12 last year, but both teams have reloaded with a wealth of transfers who are ready to contribute in 2012-13. How much of an impact will the Trojan and Ute newcomers have on the success of their teams?
  • The Pac-12's leading scorer from 2011-12 is back. His name is Brock Motum, and he has vastly improved in a Cougar uniform in each of his three years in the Palouse. What can the senior from Australia do for his swan song?
  • While the beginning of the season is exciting for any coach, early November will be an especially thrilling time for Oregon State head coach Craig Robinson, whose brother-in-law just happens to be in the midst of a re-election campaign for President of the United States of America.

And much more. Regularly check the Pac-12 Post throughout the day on Thursday for blog posts and photos from Pac-12 men's basketball media day.
