By the Pac-12 Conference

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - USC forward Samantha Johnson and Oregon goalkeeper Abby Steele were named Pac-12 Women's Soccer Players of the Week for the week of October 29 - November 4.

Johnson, a senior from Palmdale, Calif., scored a momentum-changing goal late in the game that helped USC to a 3-2 overtime victory over No. 2 UCLA to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors. Playing in her final game at USC, she scored her 15th career goal to give the Trojans a 2-1 lead in the 81st minute of play and provided the spark they needed to complete the upset. UCLA netted an equalizer in the final minute of regulation, but USC answered with a golden goal in the final seconds of the first overtime period to earn the win. Johnson, who tied for the team lead with five goals in 2012, finished her career ranked 11th in program history in career goals (15).

Steele, a sophomore from Santa Rosa, Calif., collected four saves on 16 total shots and posted her sixth clean sheet of the season in a 2-0 victory over Oregon State on Friday to take home Defensive Player of the Week accolades. She tallied a pair of saves in each half to help the Ducks send their seniors off with a win. Steele notched 78 saves in 19 games this season, averaging 4.11 stops per contest. She ranks fifth in the Pac-12 in goals against average (1.05) and save percentage (.796) and is tied for third in the Conference in shutouts (6).

This is the first weekly honor for Johnson, who is USC's 23rd all-time Player of the Week. For Steele, this also marks her first Pac-12 Player of the Week award. She is Oregon's ninth Player of the Week recipient.

With neither team earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament, USC and Oregon have wrapped up their 2012 seasons. The Trojans went 6-10-3 and posted a 3-6-2 Conference record, while Oregon went 8-10-2 with a 3-7-1 record in league play.
