AROUND THE PAC-12

THESE GUYS ARE REALLY SMART: Seven Pac-12 football players were named to the Capital One Academic All-District® first teams for districts VII and VIII. The All-District teams, which consist of student-athletes from eight districts across the United States, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Utah WR Luke Matthews (3.69, Communications), Oregon State TE Colby Prince (3.38, Exercise and sport science), USC OL Khaled Holmes (3.31, Communication Management), Arizona K John Bonano (3.92, Physiology), Arizona LB Jake Fisher (3.31, Marketing) and Stanford DL Henry Anderson (3.43, Political science) received District VIII honors, while Will Pericak (3.45, Finance) was named to the District VII team. These student-athletes are now eligible for the Capitol One Academic All-America® teams, which will be selected later this month.

TWO-WAY PLAYERS: USC WR Marqise Lee lined up on the defensive side of the ball in a 4th and 1 situation against Arizona State, which led to a delay of game by the Sun Devils. Washington TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins, the FBS leading receiver among tight ends, played a half a dozen snaps as a pass-rush defensive end in the win over Utah. Arizona's Taimi Tutogi has seen action on both sides of the ball as well. As a FB, he's caught 10 passes for 64 yards and one touchdown. As a DL, he's recorded four tackles, one sack and recovered one fumble this season.

WASHINGTON (6-4) at COLORADO (1-9)
Sat., Nov. 17, 11:30 a.m. MT - FX
WASH leads, 6-5-1. Last game: WASH, 52-24 (2011)

Austin Seferian-Jenkins, a true sophomore, passed Mark Bruener to become the No. 1 receiving tight end in UW history. He now has 96 career receptions for 1,267 yards (both school records for a tight end) and leads the nation (among tight ends) with 55 catches, also a school record for the position.

Sophomore RB Bishop Sankey rushed for 162 yards in the win over Utah, becoming the 10th Husky to pass 1,000 yards rushing in a season. He's the third sophomore at UW to reach 1,000 yards (Napoleon Kaufman, 1992 and Chris Polk, 2009). Sankey has rushed for 351 yards over the last two games.

Colorado Senior DE Will Pericak started his 47th straight game Saturday (every game of his career, dating back to his first in the '09 opener). It's the mark for most consecutive starts on offense or defense, and matches him for most starts overall at CU (47 - OL Ryan Miller, 2007-11).

Colorado held the ball for 41:48 against Arizona, marking the second-highest single-game time of possession in program history and the highest since 1980.

Colorado's Christian Powell collected 137 yards on the ground at Arizona, his third 100-yard rushing performance of the season to tie CU's freshman record. His 625 rushing yards this season rank fourth all-time among freshmen at Colorado and are 205 yards shy of the school freshman record set by Lamont Warren in 1991.

ARIZONA (6-4) at UTAH (4-6)
Sat., Nov. 17, 8 p.m. MT - ESPNU
UTAH leads, 20-15-2. Last game: UTAH, 34-21 (2011)

Arizona sophomore WR Austin Hill caught three passes for 29 yards to push his season total to 62 receptions and 1,023 yards. Combined with sophomore RB Ka'Deem Carey's 1,381 yards rushing this season (second on UA's all-time single-season charts), they become the second rushing-receiving tandem to post 1,000-yard seasons in program history. Trung Canidate/Dennis Northcutt achieved the feat in 1999.

Senior PK John Bonano has connected on a UA record 69 consecutive PATs.

Utah senior RB John White is coming off a season-high 142-yard rushing performance against Washington. With the effort, he moved into sixth-place all-time at Utah with 2,280 career rushing yards. He has hit the century mark in three straight games. The Utes are 11-1 when he rushes for 100 yards or more.

Utah and Arizona rank at opposite ends of the Conference in time of possession. The Utes, who average 32:18 of possession per game, rank second in the Pac-12, while Arizona ranks 12th, averaging 27:32 of possession per game.

WASHINGTON STATE (2-8) at ARIZONA STATE (5-5)

ASU leads, 23-13-2. Last game: WSU, 37-27 (2011)

Arizona State ranks second in the FBS in sacks (4.0) and tackles for loss (8.8). DL Will Sutton, LB Carl Bradford and LB Brandon Magee have combined for 24.5 sacks and 38.5 TFL this season. Sutton has recorded at least one tackle for loss in all nine games he's played in.

Arizona State has scored first in eight of its nine games this season. The Sun Devils have outscored their opponents 118-34 in the first quarter.

With five receptions against USC, junior TE Chris Coyle brought his season total to 48 to move into a tie with Todd Heap (2000) for fifth in school history among tight ends in single-season receptions. He needs eight more to pass leader Zach Miller.

Washington State senior LB Travis Long collected two sacks against UCLA to bring his season total to 9.5, the most by a Cougar since Mkristo Bruce had 11 in 2006.

Sophomore QB Connor Halliday threw for 330 yards and career-high five touchdowns in the 44-36 loss to UCLA. Halliday has thrown for 1,705 yards, while senior QB Jeff Tuel has thrown for 1,670 yards. The Halliday-Tuel tandem has helped lead Washington State to a league-leading 337.5 passing yards per game, a figure that ranks sixth nationally in the FBS.

No. 21 USC (7-3) at No. 17 UCLA (8-2)
Sat., Nov. 17, 12 noon PT - FOX
USC leads, 46-28-7. Last game: USC, 50-0 (2011)

Not only does the USC-UCLA winner claim the Victory Bell, but clinches the South Division title and will represent the South in the Pac-12 Championship Game... USC has won 12 of the last 13 meetings... It's the 21st meeting where UCLA enters the game as the higher-ranked team. UCLA holds an 11-9 edge in the previous 20 meetings when it was the higher-ranked team.

USC sophomore WR Marqise Lee currently has 98 receptions this season for 1,447 yards, those numbers rank fourth and seventh on the Pac-12 career charts. He needs 14 receptions to set the Pac-12 single-season reception mark, and 86 yards to establish the single-season receiving yardage record.

Over the last two games, UCLA freshman QB Brett Hundley has connected on 41 of 49 pass attempts (.837) for 549 yards and 6 TDs. The last three games, he's completed 60 of 78 (.769) for 823 yards and 10 TDs. His .690 completion percentage is currently second in UCLA history (Rick Neuheisel's .693, 1983).

The 30 points scored in the second quarter by UCLA at WSU was the most points it has ever scored in a quarter (available records date back to 1958).

No. 14 STANFORD (8-2) at No. 1 OREGON (10-0)
Sat., Nov. 17, 5 p.m. PT - ABC
STAN leads, 44-30-1. Last game: ORE, 53-30 (2011)

Oregon is No. 1 in the AP poll for the eighth time. The previous seven times occurred during the 2010 season... Stanford will face a Top 13 ranked team for the fourth time this season... Stanford's FBS leading rushing defense (58.6 ypg) will face Oregon's offense that is third in rushing in the FBS (325.1 ypg).

Oregon has scored 30 or more points in 23 straight games, the longest streak in the FBS. The Ducks are 41-2 when scoring 30-plus in the Chip Kelly era, which is only 50 games long. Oregon has scored 42 or more points in 13 straight games, averaging 52.7 points in that stretch... Oregon has scored 191 points over the last three games (63.7 avg).

Over the last four games, freshman QB Marcus Mariota has completed 66 of 83 pass attempts (.796) for 863 yards, 13 TDs and no interceptions. Mariota continues to add to his Pac-12 freshman record 28 touchdown passes. Senior TB Kenjon Barner has 19 rushing TDs and needs two to tie former Duck LaMichael James' school single-season mark of 21 rushing TDs.

Junior RB Stepfan Taylor posted 114 yards rushing in the win over Oregon State. He now has 1,061 yards rushing this season and has tallied three 1,000-yard seasons. He joins former Cardinal Darin Nelson as the only Stanford players to accomplish that feat, and 12th player to do so in Pac-12 history. Taylor is just 203 yards shy of passing Nelson's career rushing record of 4,033 yards.

The Cardinal finished the 2012 home slate 6-0. Stanford has gone unbeaten at home for the second time in three seasons. The Cardinal has just one home loss since the beginning of the 2010 season, and has completed its first three-year stretch with only one home loss since 1924-26.

CALIFORNIA (3-8) at No. 15 OREGON STATE (7-2)
Sat., Nov. 17, 7:30 p.m. PT - P12N
CAL leads, 34-30-0. Last game: CAL, 23-6 (2011)

Cal senior RB Isi Sofele posted his third 100-yard rushing performance of the season, eighth of his career, with 134 yards on 15 carries (8.9 avg) and one TD in the loss to Oregon. His runs of 31 and 35 yards were longest on the Duck defense this season... Cal rushed for 236 yards as a team, the fifth time it has rushed for at least 200 yards as a team this season.

Sophomore LB Nick Forbes led Cal with 10 tackles against Oregon. He's tallied 55 tackles over the last six games (9.2 per game). He's currently sixth in the Pac-12 with 7.6 tackles per game.

Oregon State kicker Trevor Romaine connected all three field goal attempts at Stanford (19, 42 and 44 yards). He's hit on 13 of 15 field goal attempts this season. His 86.7 percent success rate would lead the Pac-12, but he needs to average two attempts per game (currently at 1.67 per game).

Freshman RB Storm Woods rushed for 94 yards against a Stanford defense that's leading the FBS in rush defense (58.6 avg). Woods tops all Pac-12 freshmen in rushing with 635 yards (79.4 avg).
