WALNUT CREEK, Calif.—Wide receiver Marqise Lee of USC has been named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year, defensive tackle Will Sutton of ARIZONA STATE the Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year and David Shaw of STANFORD the Pac-12 Coach of the Year. In addition, quarterback Marcus Mariota of OREGON has been named the Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year and defensive end Leonard Williams of USC has been named the Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year.

Offensive Player of the Year - Marqise Lee, WR, USC: Lee, a sophomore from Inglewood, Calif., established new Pac-12 single-season records for receptions and receiving yards, hauling in 112 passes for 1,680 yards (140.0 yards per game) and 14 touchdowns. He has caught 10 or more passes in eight games this season. The Biletnikoff Award finalist has shown versatility in his second season at USC, racking up 215.67 all-purpose yards per game, a total that tops the Conference and ranks third in the FBS. Additionally, he leads the Pac-12 in kick return yardage, averaging 28.6 yards per return. Lee earned Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week honors after returning a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown in USC's season-opening win against Hawai'i and garnered Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week accolades after recording 469 all-purpose yards, including a Conference record 345 receiving yards, against Arizona.  He was named the Pac-12 Co-Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2011.

Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year - Will Sutton, DE, Arizona State:  Sutton, a redshirt junior from Corona, Calif., leads the Pac-12 and ranks fifth in the FBS with 1.82 tackles for loss per game (20 total). He also ranks 12th in the nation (third in the Conference) with .95 sacks per game (10.5 total) and anchors a Sun Devil defense that has averaged 4.0 sacks and 8.83 tackles for loss per game in 2012; both figures rank second nationally. Arizona State, propelled by its prolific pass-rush, leads the Pac-12 in pass defense and pass efficiency defense, allowing 178.83 passing yards per game and limiting opposing quarterbacks to a combined 105.16 passer rating. Sutton earned a Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week nod after collecting eight tackles (six solo), including three sacks, and forced a fumble in a victory over California.

Freshman Offensive Player of the Year - Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon: Mariota, a redshirt freshman from Honolulu, Hawaii, has completed 218 of 312 passes for 2,511 yards and 30 touchdowns this season. The first-year signal caller, who tossed for a school-record-tying six touchdowns against California, owns the Pac-12 freshman record for touchdown passes (30) in a season and has thrown five touchdown passes per interception in 2012. The Conference's most efficient passer, Mariota has compiled a 165.36 quarterback rating that ranks fifth in the FBS. He is the only freshman to earn 2012 All-Pac-12 honors (first or second team) and is the first freshman quarterback since Todd Marinovich in 1989 to be named to the first team.

Freshman Defensive Player of the Year - Leonard Williams, DE, USC: Williams, a freshman from Daytona Beach, Fla., has been a key contributor on a USC defense that has managed 3.58 sacks per game this season. He registered 7.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss during the regular season, ranking second on the team in both categories, and his 0.62 sacks per game rank ninth in the Pac-12. Williams is sixth on the team with 50 tackles (30 solo). He has an interception, which he returned 24 yards, two fumble recoveries and three pass breakups on the year.

Coach of the Year - David Shaw, Stanford: Shaw, who was named the Pac-12 Coach of the Year for the second straight year, is the fifth coach in Pac-12 history to earn the award in consecutive seasons. He led the Cardinal to a 10-2 regular season record and a berth in the Pac-12 Championship. Stanford notched wins over five ranked opponents in 2012 and has turned in three straight 10-win seasons for the first time in program history. The Cardinal, which boasts the nation's top rushing defense (71.33 yards per game), is tied for 11th in scoring defense (16.92 points per game), ranks 19th in total defense (328.75 yards per game) and leads the FBS in sacks (4.42 per game). Shaw's defense has been particularly stringent on third-down, holding opponents to a 29.53 percent conversion rate on the year, a figure that ranks eighth in the FBS. Several of Shaw's student athletes are in contention for national awards, including tight end Zach Ertz (Mackey Award finalist).

In addition to individual awards, the Pac-12 coaches selected the 2012 All-Pac-12 Football Team that follows.
