Eight Pac-12 volleyball players named to AVCA All-America teams

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -Eight Pac-12 women's volleyball players have been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I All-America teams, the AVCA announced Wednesday.
The awards will be presented December 14 in Louisville, Ky., at the AVCA All-America/Players of the Year Banquet. The 2012 Division I Player of the Year will also be announced at the banquet. Each of the three AVCA All-America Teams are comprised of 14 athletes.
The Pac-12 placed five players on the first team, including USC junior libero Natalie Hagglund who is just one of two selections who have garnered back-to-back first-team honors. The 2012 Pac-12 Player of the Year, OREGON senior outside hitter Alaina Bergsma is also a first-team recipient. Joining these two on the first-team are UCLA senior outside hitter Tabi Love, OREGON senior setter Lauren Plum and STANFORD junior middle blocker Carly Wopat.
The second team selections from the Pac-12 were OREGON sophomore outside hitter Liz Brenner and WASHINGTON sophomore outside hitter Krista Vansant.
USC opposite hitter Katie Fuller was named to the third team.
STANFORD middle blocker Inky Ajanaku, USC freshman outside hitter and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Samantha Bricio and UCLA senior outside hitter Rachael Kidder earned honorable mention status.
