Six Pac-12 teams land in Collegiate Baseball's preseason Top 20

By the Pac-12 Conference

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — Six Pac-12 baseball teams--five of which participated in the 2012 postseaon--have been ranked in Collegiate Baseball's Fabulous 40 Division I preseason poll, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper announced on Thursday. Four Pac-12 schools cracked the top 10, and all six are ranked in the top 20, while four other Conference schools received votes. The Pac-12's six representatives in the top 20 are tied with the SEC for the most by any conference.

UCLA, a Pac-12 co-champion and a College World Series participant in 2012, checked in at No. 5 in the poll, followed by Oregon at No. 6 and Stanford at No. 9. Oregon State, led by reigning Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Michael Conforto, came in at No. 10. Arizona State enters the season at No. 16, while defending national champion ARIZONA landed at No. 18 in the poll. USC, Washington, California and Washington State received votes.

The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll, which began in 1958, is the oldest college baseball poll.
