SAN FRANCISCO, January 30, 2013 — Pac-12 Networks' first season of live softball telecasts is just around the corner and packed with 34 live games featuring some of the nation's top players and programs.

The Pac-12's strength in softball is obvious, having claimed 24 NCAA Titles since 1982, including six of the last seven. Last season, eight of the nine Pac-12 teams were nationally ranked and participated in the NCAA tournament, with five advancing to the Super Regionals and California, Arizona State and Oregon representing the conference in the Women's College World Series.

2013 is no different for the conference, with seven of its nine teams ranked in the preseason top 25, with Cal, Arizona State and Oregon claiming spots at Nos. 3, 4 and 5, respectively, while Arizona sits at No. 13, Washington at No. 16, UCLA at No. 19 and Stanford rounding out the group at No. 21.

The Networks' slate of live games begins Saturday, March 23 with a nationally televised doubleheader beginning with Utah at No. 3 California at 12:00 PT, followed by No. 4 Arizona State at No. 19 UCLA at 2:00 PM PT.

"The Pac-12 Conference has a rich tradition of great softball players and teams. With Jennie Finch and Jessica Mendoza joining our broadcast team, we get to showcase the conference's current talent with two of the best players in the history of the sport," said Lydia Murphy-Stephans, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Pac-12 Networks. "With 34 live games on the slate featuring seven teams in the Top 25 national rankings, viewers will have the ability to see championship-caliber play in every game."

In addition to Finch and Mendoza, Tammy Blackburn will also be a part of the analyst team of the Networks' 34 live game slate with the trio teaming with play-by-play voices Anne Marie Anderson, Krista Blunk, JB Long and Ann Schatz throughout the season.

Finch had a stellar collegiate career as a pitcher for the University of Arizona, leading the Wildcats to a NCAA Championship in 2002 and earning first team All-American honors on three separate occasions and was named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year. She was also a two-time recipient of the Honda Award, given to the most outstanding female collegiate student-athlete, and finished her junior year with an NCAA record for most wins in a season and most consecutive wins (60). Finch also enjoyed a decorated career as a pitcher for the U.S. national team, winning gold and silver medals in the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympic Games, respectively. Following the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, Finch spent three years pitching for the Chicago Bandits of the National Pro Fastpitch league. In addition to her duties with Pac-12 Networks, Finch works as a color analyst for ESPN doing National Pro Fastpitch and college softball games.

As an outfielder for Cardinal softball, Mendoza collected numerous accolades including first-team All-American, All-Region and All Pac-10 honors all four years as well as being a three-time Stanford Female Athlete of the Year winner. The Camarillo, Calif., native still holds Stanford records in batting averages, hits, stolen bases, runs and career home runs. Following her collegiate career, she also brought home gold and silver medals in the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympic Games respectively, as a teammate of Finch. Mendoza was inducted in to the Latin Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 and served as president of the Women's Sports Foundation (2009-2010). In addition to her work with Pac-12 Networks, Mendoza is a softball analyst for ESPN, where she also covers Major League Baseball and college football as a reporter.

Each Pac-12 team makes at least six regular season appearances on the Networks television schedule that includes rivalry games between Arizona-Arizona State, Oregon-Oregon State and Stanford-Cal.

After finishing the 2012 season with a 58-7 record, a No. 3 national ranking and the Pac-12 regular season championship, the University of California Golden Bears are once again the team to beat in the conference play this season. The Bears are led by senior first-team All-American pitcher Jolene Henderson, who earned 2012 Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year honors after posting 38-4 record with a 1.29 ERA and 332 strikeouts.
