Oregon State's Hampton and Washington's Walker earn softball honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference office announced today the Pac-12 softball weekly honors for the week of Feb. 18-24. OREGON STATE's Natalie Hampton was named the Player of the Week and WASHINGTON's Bryana Walker was voted the Pitcher of the Week.
Freshman first baseman Hampton extended her hitting streak this weekend as she has now reached base 10 games in a row. At the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic this past weekend, Hampton hit .400 with four of her six hits going over the wall for home runs. She drove in seven runs while slugging 1.200. Hampton now has seven RBI on the season. The Beavers went 5-0 on the weekend as they out scored opponents 39-7.
Walker had an outstanding weekend in the circle as she went 3-0 at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. She pitched 21.0 innings, allowing just one earned run and one walk with 28 strikeouts and a 0.43 ERA. She tallied a win over then-No. 23 Florida State in a 2-0 shutout and over then-No. 13 Georgia with no earned runs in the 14-2 victory. In the 7-1 win over Virginia, Walker pitched a career-high 12 strikeouts and allowed just one earned run. She tallied eight strikeouts apiece in the wins over FSU and Georgia. Washington went 4-0 on the weekend for the first time this season and is on a five game win streak.
This is Hampton's first Player of the Week award and the 35th all-time for Oregon State. It is Walker's first career Pitcher of the Week award and the 85th all-time honor for Washington.
Oregon State improved to 13-3 on the season and will travel to the DeMarini Tournament in Fullerton, Calif., this weekend. The Beavers face their first opponent on March 1 at 9 a.m. PT when they play against Iowa. Oregon State entered the top 25 rankings for the first time this season as they are now ranked No. 24 in the USA Today/NFCA poll. Washington is now 10-5 on the season as they head to Fort Collins, Colo., for the Colorado State Tournament on March 2 and 3. They start the weekend off against Brown on March 2 at 9 a.m. MT. The Huskies are ranked No. 18 in the USA Today/NFCA poll.
