Cal's Stalter named Pac-12 men's golfer of the month

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Joël Stalter of California has been named the Pac-12 Men's Golfer of the Month for February, the Pac-12 announced today.
Stalter, a junior from Amneville, France, kicked off the Spring season by picking up top individual honors at the Arizona Intercollegiate and John A. Burns Intercollegiate to lead top-ranked California to third-place and first-place respective finishes.
He shot nine-under par over three rounds at the Arizona Intercollegiate and followed it up with a 12-under performance at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate to claim an eight-stroke victory. After playing the events in a combined 21-under par, he lowered his stroke average for the season to a team-best 69.93, a figure that ranks fifth nationally.
With the victories—the first two of his collegiate career— he moved to No. 1 in the current Golfstat national rankings and is ranked No. 2 by Golfweek. He was Golfweek's National Player of the Week on February 26 after his John A. Burns Intercollegiate win and was named to the initial Haskins Award Watch List.
Dating back to last season, Cal has won 12 of its last 21 events overall and has finished in the top five in all 21. The Bears return to action March 4-5 at the Fresno State Lexus Classic in Fresno, Calif.
