WSU's Daugherty at Friday's game
SEATTLE -- Washington State women's basketball coach June Daugherty will not coach in tonight's matchup between WSU and top-seeded Stanford after undergoing an emergency appendectomy Thursday night in Seattle. Daugherty received approval from both her surgeon and team physician to attend tonight's game and is seated behind the Cougars' bench. Her husband, WSU assistant Mike Daugherty, is handling coaching duties. Daugherty missed the Cougs' opening-round win over Arizona State on Thursday while she was in surgery.
