WSU's Motum named Pac-12 player of the week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - WASHINGTON STATE senior forward Brock Motum was named the Pac-12 men's basketball player of the week for the week of March 4-10, the Conference announced Monday.'
Motum tallied two double-doubles on the weekend in a sweep over the Los Angeles schools for the first time for the Cougars since the 2003-04 season. Washington State beat No. 23 UCLA, 73-61 in which Motum tallied 21 points going 7-for-18 (.389) from the field, grabbing 11 rebounds, three assists and a steal on the night. This was the Cougars' first home win over UCLA since 1993 and its first win over a ranked opponent since the 2010-11 season. The 11-point victory over the Bruins is just the fourth double-figure win over UCLA since 1938.
On senior day against USC, Motum helped lead the Cougars to a victory over the Trojans, 76-51. Motum scored an impressive 31 points to lead the team and earned his fifth double-double on the season by adding 10 rebounds. He went 11-for-22 (.500) from the field and 3-for-9 (.333) from three-point range. In addition, Motum had an assist, two blocks and two steals on the night.
The Brisbane, Australia, native played all but two minutes on the weekend, averaging 25.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per game. He moved up to fifth on WSU's all-time scoring list with a total of 1,502 career points.
This is Motum's third career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor after earning his second earlier this season on Dec. 10. This is the 27th all-time selection for Washington State.
The Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament kicks off Wednesday, March 13. The Cougars face sixth-seeded WASHINGTON in game four with an approximate tip time of 8:36 p.m. PT. The game will be shown on the Pac-12 Networks.
