By the Pac-12 Conference
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference office announced today the Pac-12 softball weekly honors for the week of March 25-31. OREGON swept the Pac-12 weekly honors with Kailee Cuico named the Player of the Week, while teammate Cheridan Hawkins was voted the Pitcher of the Week.
Cuico led the Ducks in home runs (3), RBI (6) and slugging (1.077) for Oregon's four games last week. She tallied 3 RBI in the 10-3 win over then-No. 15 STANFORD. This was her second highest total of the year. She logged a pair of two-hit games versus then-No. 16 WASHINGTON. The junior homered in three of the four games in the series with the Huskies and logged a multi-RBI game versus both Stanford and Washington. Cuico moved up to ninth all-time in Oregon history for total homers with a career total now of 29. She leads the team this season in multi-RBI games (12), homers (10), RBI (34) and total bases (64).
Hawkins helped lead Oregon to its best ever 5-1 Pac-12 start under head coach Mike White. The Anderson, Calif., native earned two of the team's three wins on the week from the circle, including the 10-3 win over the Cardinal and a 4-2 win over the Huskies. In the win over the Cardinal, Hawkins struck out four, walked none and allowed four hits in her five innings. In just her second complete game of the year the freshman logged seven strikeouts versus the Huskies on March 28. She allowed only two hits and two walks in the seven innings. Overall for her three appearances on the weekend, she led the team in wins (2), innings (14.0), strikeouts (11) and fewest walks (2). Hawkins has won her last three starts and eight of her last nine.
This is Cuico's first Player of the Week award. It is the third Pitcher of the Week honor for Hawkins and her second in a row. The two honors this week bring Oregon's all-time total to 39.
