Oregon hurlers throw back-to-back no-hitters
It was a tough weekend to be in the Wildcats' lineup at Howe Field. During the last two games of a three-game weekend series, No. 17 Arizona managed just three baserunners against the Ducks, none of which came via a hit. Sunday's finale was capped with the highest of pitching achievements - a perfect game by Oregon hurler Jessica Moore.
In a five-inning 9-0 win, the senior set down all 15 batters she faced on just 57 pitches and struck out five. Sunday's perfecto was the the third no-hitter Moore has been a part of during her career at Oregon, including a solo no-hitter against Weber State in 2011 and a combined perfect game against Idaho State in 2010.
Sunday's masterpiece came just one day after Moore's teammate, freshman Cheridan Hawkins, no-hit the 'Cats in five innings on Saturday. The only blemishes in the box score were a first inning walk and a pair of hit batters in the fourth. Hawkins struck out 11 Wildcats during an 8-0 victory in what to that time had been the Ducks' first no-no since Moore's blank slate in 2011.
The back-t0-back no-hitters helped No. 7 Oregon get a series sweep over Arizona for the first time in more than 100 conference games between the two schools
