USC's Popov named Pac-12 Women's Golfer of the Month

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Sophia Popov of USC has been named the Pac-12 Women's Golfer of the Month for April, the Pac-12 announced today.
A junior from Weingarten, Germany, Popov recorded her fifth career individual title as the Trojans captured the win at the SDSU Farms Invitational on April 2 at The Farms Golf Course in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. She finished at 1-over 217 (74-69-74) to claim her first title this year.
USC finished at a combined 11-over 875 (298-289-288) to win by 21 strokes. It was the Trojans' third win a row and the fourth in the past five events. Popov's fifth win ties her with Irene Cho and Mikaela Parmlid for the most ever at USC.
Popov finished second at the Pac-12 Championships, carding a 5-under 211 (66-75-70). Her first-round score of 6-under 66 was the lowest carded in the tournament. USC combined for a total 11-under 853 (280-291-282) to capture the Conference title by 24 strokes.
This is USC's first golfer of the month recipient this season and Popov's first career golfer of the month award.
