18 Televised Events Offer Unprecedented Exposure to Championship Programs
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. (June 20, 2013) - The Pac-12 Networks today released its television schedule featuring field hockey, men's water polo and the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships, rounding out the Networks' 2013 fall televised event schedule that includes 230 contests across seven sports over 100 days.
Stanford and California field hockey split appearances in the Networks' eight-game television lineup with both programs facing UConn in their Network debuts. Stanford kicks the season off first against the Huskies Saturday, August 31 at 11:00 AM PT, and California finishes off the series against UConn Sunday, September 1 at Noon PT. Stanford also hosts two Big Ten programs, starting with Michigan State September 2 at 2:00 PM PT, followed by Michigan October 25 at 2:00 PM PT. The Bay Area rivals will also face off against each other, first with Stanford hosting the Bears Friday, September 20 at 2:30 PM PT, followed by the Cardinal closing out the season in Berkeley in a 3:00 PM PT contest on Halloween.
The men's water polo schedule on Pac-12 Networks features nine contests, including an appearance from five-time NCAA Champion USC. UCLA opens the slate September 27 hosting Pepperdine, while the Trojans make their Pac-12 Networks debut at California on November 9.
For the second straight year, Pac-12 Networks will televise the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships. The men's individual field is led by Arizona's Lawi Lalang, who is the first male athlete to be named Pac-12 men's athlete of the year in back-to-back seasons since 2005. Colorado is looking like the favorite in the men's race, as the two-time defending champions play host to the event. Meanwhile on the women's side, the Oregon Ducks are the team to beat in 2013 as the defending NCAA and Pac-12 Champions, but will face stiff competition from Stanford, Arizona and Washington who all finished in the top 10 at the NCAA cross country meet. The airdate for the 2013 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships will be announced later this fall.
