One future UCLA player advanced and a current Bruin was eliminated at the 113th U.S. Women’s Amateur at The Country Club of Charleston Wednesday.

Incoming freshman Alison Lee won her first round match against a South Carolina resident and junior All-American Erynne Lee fell in the Round of 64 to a counterpart from USC.

Alison Lee defeated Dawn Woodard, 38, the oldest player to advance to the round of 64, by a score of 3 & 1. Lee built a 4-up lead through 10 holes before Woodard cut the deficit to 2-up with a birdie at the par 5 15th. The next two holes were halved and Lee earned a spot in Thursday’s Round of 16 against 18-year old local favorite Katelyn Dambaugh, who rallied to win her first round match.

Erynne Lee lost 1-up to Doris Chen, a junior at USC. Neither player held a commanding advantage in the match. Then Chen made a birdie at the 13th stand up as the last five holes were halved.
