2013 season of Pac-12 volleyball starts this weekend

The 2013 campaign is set to begin this weekend when all 12 Pac-12 teams take to the court for their first non-conference matches of the season. The Pac-12 is loaded with talent again this year with seven AVCA All-Americans returning this season and the addition of 16 Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 recruits. All but four of last year’s 14-member all-Conference team also return this season ... The Conference starts the season with five teams ranked in the top 15 of the AVCA Preseason Coaches poll, with three coming in the top five. STANFORD was the third-ranked team in the preseason ranking, followed by No. 4 USC and No. 5 WASHINGTON. 2012 NCAA Runner-Up OREGON was ranked No. 8, while UCLA was rated No. 12 ... The Trojans jumps right into the new season taking on a pair of top-15 foes in West Lafayette, Ind., while ARIZONA hosts No. 20 Kansas in its second match of 2013 ... The Pac-12 is coming off another impressive postseason campaign, sending seven teams to the NCAA Tournament in 2012. The Ducks’ appearance in the national championship match marked the third-straight year a league team had played in the final match of the season. The Pac-12 teams own 14 national titles in volleyball, the most of any conference in the country.
