Roundup: Oregon's LBs are Nasty and Nice

Oregon

Rodney Hardrick and Derrick Malone were recently named starting LBs in Eugene, and with those two Ducks linebackers, you get Nasty and Nice. They got quite the void to fill with Michael Clay and Kiko Alonso, the Ducks’ top two tacklers from 2012, no longer on campus.

USC

While the Trojans are in no hurry to name a quarterback, USC AD Pat Haden doesn’t expect the QB competition between Cody Kessler and Max Wittek to go beyond the second week of the season.

Colorado

There are always plenty of sticky situations that arise during the course of a game, and Colorado quarterback Connor Wood says he will improve handling adversity.

Oregon State

Well this was pretty amusing on the Pac-12 coaches conference call yesterday -- Rush Limbaugh interrupted Mike Riley as he was about to give an answer.

This is a few days old now, but Washington's captains were revealed at a rousing "Raise the Woof." Your six Husky captains for 2013 are Keith Price, Bishop Sankey, John Timu, Colin Tanigawa, Sean Parker and Hau'oli Kikaha.

Stanford

Jon Wilner predicts that Stanford will face Nebraska in the Rose Bowl, while also hypothesizing that Oregon will take on Georgia in the Sugar Bowl in his final BCS projections.

Lexe Selman was supposed to have her first collegiate soccer campaign last year in Tucson but instead had to battle for her life when she was diagnosed with leukemia. Now that the illness is behind her, the Arizona freshman is ready for a new start. The 2-0 Wildcats host UC Riverside Friday afternoon for their 2013 home opener.

UCLA

How ‘bouts another women’s soccer story? UCLA defender Abby Dahlkemper was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s team of the week after she and her teammates did not concede a goal to Northeastern or Cal State Northridge last weekend. Stanford’s Laura Liedle was listed as an honorable mention.

Arizona State

OK, back to football now. The venerable Sun Devil football beat reporter Doug Haller ranks Arizona State 18th in his preseason top-25 poll.
