Pac-12 women's basketball TV schedule announced

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The 2013-14 Pac-12 women’s basketball regular season tips off the 266-game schedule on Friday, Nov. 8. Pac-12 teams will make a league-record over 100 appearances during the regular season, including 101 telecasts on the Pac-12 Networks and five on the ESPN networks as part of the Conference’s television package. Among those 106 appearances, all 11 games of the Pac-12 Tournament at KeyArena in Seattle will be televised, with nine appearing on the Pac-12 Networks and the championship game on ESPN on March 9.
Conference teams are coming off a season where four teams earned NCAA Tournament bids, including CALIFORNIA, which advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the first time in the history of the program, extending the Pac-12’s streak in the Final Four to six-consecutive years. The Golden Bears also captured their first-ever Pac-12 regular-season title, sharing it with perennial power STANFORD. The Cardinal went on to win the Pac-12 Tournament crown in the event’s inaugural season in Seattle.
In just the first weekend, fans will be treated to one of the top matchups of the season as the Bears will host Duke on Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. PT on ESPNU. The Blue Devils ended the 2012-13 regular season ranked fifth in the nation in the Associated Press poll. The game also marks the first televised women’s basketball game of the season.
ESPN2 will also televise the USC at Stanford contest on Jan. 27 for the Conference’s first-ever Big Monday appearance. Stanford will travel to California on February 2 for an ESPN2-televised game, while WASHINGTON hosts the Cardinal on ESPNU on February 9.
In addition to the five games on the ESPN networks that are a part of the Conference’s television package, Stanford’s trip to UConn on Nov. 11 is part of ESPN’s College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. The game from Storrs will air on ESPN2. Cal will be on ESPN2 on Dec. 22 taking on defending NCAA Champion Connecticut in the Maggie Dixon Classic.
The non-conference slate features 34 games versus teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season, including six games against teams that advanced to the Final Four. The Bruins travel to Nebraska open the season, then the Huskers will travel to Pac-12 country, as they take on UTAH in Salt Lake City on Nov. 15, tipping off the Pac-12 Networks schedule.
COLORADO will travel to NCAA runner-up Louisville on Dec. 21 and look to upset the Cardinals on their home court after the Buffs topped them last season in a non-conference tilt. NCAA semifinalist Notre Dame takes on two Pac-12 foes, hosting the Bruins on December 7 then traveling to Corvallis to face OREGON STATE on December 29. In addition to the matchups against Cal and Stanford, UConn will host OREGON on November 20.
The first game of the Conference slate to be televised will be on December 30 as UCLA takes on crosstown rival USC at Pauley Pavilion on the Pac-12 Networks.
The regular season culminates with the Pac-12 Tournament at KeyArena in Seattle, Thursday-Sunday, March 6-9 and every game of the event will be televised for the second-straight year. The Conference made history last season when every game of the event was televised for the first time ever. The first eight games on the first three days of the tournament will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks, with the champion being crowned at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET on ESPN on March 9.
In addition to the four NCAA Tournament bids, two Pac-12 squads also nabbed WNIT berths with the Utes advancing to the championship game.
The Pac-12 Networks launched in the summer of 2012 with one national and six regional networks devoted solely to Pac-12 sports. In addition to the hundreds of live televised Pac-12 sporting events, Pac-12 Networks subscribers can watch live events on the Pac-12 Now app. Subscribers can also watch live and on-demand content on the web at pac-12.com.
