Conference play under way for Pac-12 volleyball

With the non-conference slate complete, every Pac-12 team goes into the Conference slate with a winning record and no more than three losses. It marks the third-straight season that no Pac-12 team has had more than five losses ... The Pac-12 slate gets underway this week with the rivalry matches on Tuesday and Wednesday. Eleven matches will be televised on the Conference’s Pac-12 Networks as No. 16 ARIZONA STATE hosts ARIZONA and UTAH travels to COLORADO to kick off the Conference race on Tuesday ... No. 11 UCLA heads to No. 4 USC for an ESPNU match on Wednesday. Both teams enter the week with only one loss apiece with both losses coming to a then-ranked No. 9 team (UCLA at Hawai’i, Sept. 7; USC at San Diego, Sept. 13) ... The upcoming rivalry week will also feature No. 7 STANFORD at CALIFORNIA, No. 2 WASHINGTON at WASHINGTON STATE, and No. 21 OREGON at OREGON STATE. All three matchups can be seen on Pac-12 Networks ... Pac-12 teams continue to dominate the national polls as six teams were ranked in the AVCA top 25 for the third-straight week. Leading the league are the second-ranked Huckies and seventh-ranked Cardinal. Three Conference matches over the upcoming weekend will feature two top-25 teams ... The remaining two undefeated Pac-12 teams face off this week in the Pacific Northwest, as Washington travels to Washington State. The Huskies are 8-0 while the Cougars are 13-0. They are also two of just seven teams in the country to be undefeated ... Pac-12 teams also figure prominently among the NCAA statistical leaders. Eight of the nation’s top 21 teams in hitting percentage are in the Pac-12, including five Conference teams boast hitting percentages ranked in the top 15 in the country. Meanwhile, the Huskies lead the nation in aces per set ... Arizona claimed two of the weekly honors this week, with Madi Kingdon earning Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week nods, while teammate Penina Snuka was selected the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week. Oregon State’s Becky Defoe was voted the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week.
