Shinde Wins Opening Match of ITA’s
TUCSON, Ariz. – Junior Sumeet Shinde won his opening match of the prequalifying round at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. on Saturday.
Shinde defeated Nate Lammons of Southern Methodist in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3 to move on in the tournament.
The junior was the only Wildcat who competed on the day, as seniors Mario Urquidi, Fredrik Ask, and Kieren Thompson all had byes in their opening rounds.
The tournament will continue on Sunday, as Shinde faces Danilo Casanova of Hawaii at Manoa. He will be joined by Ask who faces Vukasin Teofanovic of Marquette, Urquidi who competes against David Fox of Middle Tennessee, and Thompson who will go up against Justin Butsch of Louisiana State.
