Nicola Rössler Posts Top 20 Finish At Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif. – California senior Nicola Rössler shot a final round 72 to post her second top 20 finish in three tournaments this season after carding a 54-hole 214 (+1) at the Stanford Intercollegiate held at the Stanford Golf Course.

As a team, the Golden Bears placed 10th overall at 292-289-297=878 (+26). Rössler at 16th overall was followed on the individual leaderboard by sophomore Hannah Suh (218, +5), freshman Lucia Gutierrez (224, +11), and sophomores Carly Childs (225, +12) and Morgan Thompson (229, +16).

One day after shooting a 2-under 69, Rössler proved to be a model of consistency by hitting par on all but one hole Sunday for a final round 1-over 72. She has now placed in the top 20 in two of Cal’s three fall tournament after finishing tied for second at the Ptarmigan Classic along with this weekend’s 16th-place finish.

Suh shot a final round 2-over (73) to place 32nd individually with a 72-73-73=218. The 54-hole score was her lowest of the season after she shot birdies on the 9th and 12th to stay in contention.

Gutierrez and Childs had double-bogeys derail otherwise positive rounds with Gutierrez carding a final round 78 and Childs carding a 77 on Sunday. The duo placed 50th and 54th, respectively, at 74-72-78=224 and 73-75-77=225. Thompson had a scoring round for the Golden Bears at 4-over on the day with a birdie on the 7th to make her the only Golden Bear to birdie the par-5 hole on the final two days of competition.

Sophomore Roberta Röller shot an 80 for the third consecutive day, carding an 80-80-80=240 (+27). Röller competed as an individual at the tournament.

California closes the fall season with the Pac-12 Preview from November 4-5.
