Race for men's soccer Pac-12 title grows tighter
The top-three teams in Pac-12 men’s soccer are just one point within each other, and the remaining three weeks of Conference play look to bring the Pac-12 title decision right down to the wire... CALIFORNIA, UCLA and WASHINGTON all hung on to their top-five rankings in the NSCAA Weekly Poll, as Cal remained No. 1 for the fifth-straight week. The Bears were able to keep their top-dog ranking despite a 1-0 loss to in-state rival San Diego, showing the strength of Cal’s early-season victories... The Bruins and the Huskies flip-flopped spots, with UCLA coming in at No. 3 and Washington at No. 4 after the Bruins upset UW last week in a 2-1 victory and tied Oregon State 1-1 on Friday. Washington owns the top spot in Conference standings, but is only one point ahead of California and two ahead of UCLA... SAN DIEGO STATE moved further up the Pac-12 ladder with a victory against OREGON STATE, giving head coach Lev Kirshner his 100th career victory. The Aztecs’ seven points are the most for SDSU since the 2011 season, when they finished the season with 13... STANFORD took a break from Conference play this past weekend, increasing its overall win-loss-tied percentage with a 2-1 overtime victory over San Francisco... UCLA senior Victor Chavez earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors this week after scoring one goal and notching one assist in three games over the course of the week.
