Ka’Deem Carey a Walter Camp Award Semifinalist

TUCSON, Ariz. Announced by the Walter Camp Football Foundation on Wednesday, University of Arizona junior running back Ka’Deem Carey is one of 15 semifinalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award. Carey is the lone running back to make the list and is one of three Pac-12 players recognized.

Currently the nation’s No. 2 rusher at 152.6 yards per game, Carey previously led all FBS players from Oct. 20-Nov. 9. The Tucson native is a Maxwell Award Semifinalist and a Heisman Trophy, Doak Walker Award and All-America candidate. He has rushed for 100-plus yards in 12-straight games (longest streak in FBS) and in 16 of last 17 games played (also 18 of last 21). Carey leads all active Pac-12 players and ranks No. 3 in FBS for career 100-yard games (18).

Carey is No. 2 for all active FBS with 43 career touchdowns (No. 2 all-time at UA), No. 3 in FBS among active players with 40 career rushing TD (No. 2 at UA) and has 3,575 career rushing yards (No. 3 among active FBS players). He ranks No. 3 nationally in scrimmage yards (169.3 per game in 2013) and leads all active FBS players with 111.7 rushing yards per game (career).

A 2012 consensus All-American and First-Team All-Pac-12 honoree, Carey led the nation in rushing in 2012 with 148.4 yards per game. He owns the Pac-12 single-game rushing record (366 yards) and Arizona’s single-season rushing record (1,929 yards in 2012) with 16 single-game or season school records.

Three finalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award will be announced on Dec. 2. Semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award will be announced on Thurs., Nov. 14.

The Wildcats return to action Sat., Nov. 16, against Washington State at 12 p.m. at Arizona Stadium. The game will air on Pac-12 Networks. The game will also air on Arizona IMG Sports Network, KCUB 1290 AM in Tucson and Fox Sports 910 AM in Phoenix.
