Corvallis, Ore. – The No. 6 Oregon State wrestling team is set to compete for the first time this year in Gill Coliseum on Sunday as they host No. 19 Boise State in the annual Border War.

This will be the 46th meeting between the Beavers and the Broncos, the first match-up dating back to 1975. Oregon State leads Boise State 28-16-1 all-time and is looking to claim another victory on Sunday.

Both the Beavers and the Broncos will be featuring ranked wrestlers. Oregon State senior Scott Sakaguchi (149) is ranked No. 3/4 heading into the match, and senior RJ Pena (157) sits at No. 5/7.

Junior Taylor Meeks (197) continues to sit atop his weight class, ranked No. 1/1 with a perfect 9-0 record thus far this season. Freshman Amarveer Dhesi (HWT) jumped into a No. 19 spot this week, giving the Beavers four ranked wrestlers heading into the match.

Boise State’s lineup includes two ranked wrestlers as well, Jake Swartz (184) and J.T Felix (HWT). Both Swartz and Felix are listed at No. 5 for their weight class by InterMat.

In 2012, Oregon State went 1-1 with Boise State, once on the road and once at home. The two squads first met in November, and the Beavers claimed a 21-16 victory. In January, the Beavs and the Broncos faced off again, this time Boise State walked away with 19-15 win.

Oregon State returns nine of the ten wrestlers that competed against Boise State last year, while the Broncos return eight. Rematches may include OSU’s Pat Rollins against BSU’s Rami Haddadin at 125, Alex Elder and Chris Castillo at 165, Brian Engdahl versus Jake Swartz at 184, and Taylor Meeks against Cody Dixon at 197.

General admission tickets will be sold at the door, $7 for an adult and $5 for a senior/child. Tickets from Saturday night’s football game against Washington can also be presented at the door for free admission.

The match will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks at 11 a.m. PT. The action can also be followed at www.trackwrestling.com and Twitter.com/OSU_Wrestling.
