Cal Men’s Divers Compete at Texas Diving Invite

BERKELEY – The Cal men’s diving program, led by fourth-year head coach Todd Mulzet, will be competing against the nation’s best today (Nov. 21) through Saturday at the University of Texas Diving Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. The Golden Bears are facing divers from the host Longhorns, Arizona State, Miami, Hawaii, Texas Christian and Wisconsin.

The Cal men’s divers entering the meet – seniors Grayson Huston and Tyler Pullen, and sophomore Peter Cyr – have already faced the Wisconsin divers this season in a 151-131 dual meet victory over the Badgers, Nov. 1 at Spieker Aquatics Complex. In that meet, highlights for Mulzet’s squad was Pullen placing third (260.03) and Huston fourth (259.35) in the one-meter board.

In an Oct. 11 dual meet victory over Indiana (173-122), junior Thomas Selby broke a school record in the three-meter competition with a mark of 391.50, breaking the old record of 381.15 set by Sam Helvie in 2007. Senior captain Huston was third on the three-meter board with a score of 324.83.

The Texas Diving Invite one-meter finals begin today at 3 p.m. Pacific time, the three-meter finals are Friday starting at 4:30 p.m. Pacific time and the men’s platform final starts at 12 p.m. Saturday. For live results click Here.
