Cal Hosts Bradley in Second Round Match on Sunday
BERKELEY - The fourth overall seed in the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament, the California Golden Bears (12-4-2, 6-3-1 Pac-12) host the Bradley Braves (14-6-2, 3-2-1 MVC) in a Second Round match on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Goldman Field. This will be the first ever meeting between the Bears and Braves, and marks the first time Cal has appeared in the NCAA Tournament since they reached the Quarterfinals in 2010.
Bradley dispatched the Northwestern Wildcats 3-2 in overtime on Thursday night, courtesy of a 97th minute golden goal by senior midfielder Wojciech Wojcik in Evanston, Ill. Wojcik, the team's leader in points (24), factored in all three Bradley goals, scoring twice as well as assisting on midfielder Scott Davis' seventh minute strike.
The Bears are looking to continue the momentum from their successful regular season campaign. Senior defender Steve Birnbaum was the team's leading scorer with nine tallies in 16 appearances, and midfielders Alec Sundly (six goals) and Seth Casiple (two goals and six assists) figure to play a large factor in the middle of the park on Sunday afternoon.
Fans can purchase tickets on the day of the game at Edwards Stadium's box office with cash only. Adults are $10, while seniors, students and youths cost $5 per ticket. All fans in attendance can also get into the Cal women's basketball game, which starts at 3:00 p.m., for free at nearby Haas Pavilion.
