Volleyball’s Gardner, Bailey Named To All-Conference Teams
TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State volleyball’s sophomore Macey Gardner was named to the All-Pac-12 Team and freshman BreElle Bailey was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team, Commissioner Larry Scott announced on Tuesday.
The Gilbert, Ariz., native was named to both the All-Conference team and the All-Freshman team a season ago. Gardner has picked up 479 kills this season, bringing her career total to 1056, making her the 16th Sun Devil to surpass 1000 career kills in the history of the program. Gardner recorded a career high 29 kills in ASU’s road match at Utah on Oct. 24, one away from tying the rally-scoring era single-game kill record of 30, set by Sarah Reaves in 2008.
A native of Highland, Utah, Bailey earned All-Freshman honors behind her impressive collegiate premiere, posting 342 kills on the season, trailing only to Gardner’s mark, the team-high. In the 2013 season opener, Bailey earned her first career All-Tournament honors at the La Quinta Inn & Suites Invitational on Aug. 31 with a 16 kill, .636 attack percentage weekend. Bailey posted her career-high 24 kills against conference foe Utah on Nov. 17.
The Sun Devils are in action this week, facing BYU on Friday in the opening round of the 2013 NCAA Volleyball Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii.
