Track & Field News Ranks 2013-14 Women’s Class At No. 6 In Nation

TEMPE, Ariz.—Track & Field News released its roundup of the 2013-14 freshman classes this month, and has named the Arizona States women the sixth-best in the nation.
ASU’s freshman class includes Micha Auzenne (East Palo Alto, Calif.), Maggie Ewen (St. Francis, Minn.), LaTroya Franklin (Long Beach, Calif.), Miranda Kewley (Temecula, Calif.), Natalie Krafft (Phoenix, Ariz.), Anna Long (Phoenix, Ariz.), Jenna Maack (Phoenix, Ariz.), Sydney Mierau (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Kira Moreland (Fontana, Calif.), Kala Stone (Kamloops, B.C., Canada), Cheley Totten (Santa Clarita, Calif.), Mia Townsend (Chandler, Ariz.), and Chiara Warner (Townsend, Mont.).
Also joining the Sun Devils are Jasmine Gibbs (Kansas State), Sara McDonald (Moorpark CC), and Kiona Anderson (Tiffin University).
The Sun Devils were last in the top-5 in 2009, when the squad’s newcomers were ranked third.
This year’s top-5 is Oregon, Texas, Duke, Stanford, and Kentucky.
On the men’s side, the team welcomes freshmen Jack Balder (Temecula, Calif.), Cody Brazeal (Clovis, Calif.), Nick Chatel (Columbus, Ohio), Dillon Groener (Chino Hills, Calif.), Bernie Montoya (Yuma, Ariz.), and Tatum Taylor (Seattle, Wash.).
Newcomer transfers include Ryan Norton (Paradise Valley CC), Keith Cleveland (Ashland University-Ohio), and Daveon Collins (Boise State).
