Everything’s coming up roses on Pac-12 Networks

Leading into the 100th Rose Bowl Game that will feature Pac-12 Champion Stanford versus Big Ten Champion Michigan State, Pac-12 Networks will air several classic games and special programming celebrating the historic milestone for ‘The Granddaddy of Them All.’

On Saturday, December 21 at 10:00 p.m. PT, Pac-12 Networks presents Road to the Rose Bowl, Presented by State Farm, a 30-minute special celebrating the 100th game matchup. Hosted by Mike Yam, alongside Yogi Roth and 1998 Rose Bowl Hall of Fame inductee Rick Neuheisel, the program will look back on the 2013 season for Michigan State and Stanford that would ultimately conclude in the sixth all-time meeting and first Rose Bowl Game between the two squads. The program will also take a historical look back at some of the top moments, teams and all-time records from the previous 99 games.

Pac-12 Networks is also the place for the most comprehensive coverage of the 100th Rose Bowl with a Rose Bowl edition of Pac-12 Football Weekly airing immediately after the game. Host Mike Yam and Rick Neuheisel will recap all the biggest moments of the game, as well as live reports from Pasadena.

Thursday, December 12

7:00 p.m.      1980 Rose Bowl Game: USC vs. Ohio State

                   (NBC) Play-by-play: Dick Enberg; Analysts: Merlin Olsen, O.J. Simpson

USC tailback Charles White was named Rose Bowl Player of the Game, rushing for 247 yards and scoring the game-winning touchdown for the Trojans to defeat Ohio State 17-16.

SundayDecember 15

9:00 p.m.      1979 Rose Bowl Game: USC vs. Michigan

                   (NBC) Play-by-play: Curt Gowdy; Analysts: John Brodie, O.J. Simpson

(#5) Michigan and (#3) USC engaged in a high-stakes Rose Bowl clash, highlighted by an unforgettable play that would come to be known as “The Phantom Touchdown.”

Wednesday, December 18

9:00 p.m.      1987 Rose Bowl Game: Arizona State vs. Michigan

                   (NBC) Play-by-play: Dick Enberg; Analysts: Merlin Olsen 

 The (#7) Sun Devils overcame a first-half deficit in the 73rd Rose Bowl Game, rallying behind QB Jeff Van Raaphorst against QB Jim Harbaugh and the (#4) Michigan Wolverines.

Saturday, December 21

Sunday, December 22

7:00 p.m.      1986 Rose Bowl Game: UCLA vs. Iowa

                   (NBC) Play-by-play: Dick Enberg; Analysts: Merlin Olsen

The heavily favored (#4) Hawkeyes stormed into Pasadena for a showdown with the hometown (#13) Bruins, as UCLA RB Eric Ball seized the moment by rushing for a Rose Bowl record four touchdowns.

Tuesday, December 24

7:30 p.m.      2012 Rose Bowl Game: Oregon vs. Wisconsin

                   (ESPN) Play-by-play: Brent Musburger; Analysts: Kirk Herbstreit

(#5) Oregon and (#10) Wisconsin engaged in an offensive shootout for the ages, as the teams combined to score the most points in the history of the game with the Ducks seeking their first Rose Bowl victory in 95 years.

Friday, December 27

9:30 p.m.      2001 Rose Bowl Game: Washington vs. Purdue

                   (ESPN) Play-by-play: Keith Jackson; Analysts: Bob Griese

(#17) Purdue and future NFL superstar QB Drew Brees descended upon Pasadena for a battle against (#4) Washington, as Huskies head coach Rick Neuheisel sought to become the only former Rose Bowl MVP to also coach a winning team in the Rose Bowl.
