Pac-12 women’s volleyball scores for Fri, Dec. 13

Cardinal Joins the Elite

The superlatives could go on and on. But with its 12th win in a row, Stanford has now reached the Elite Eight in two straight seasons and three out of the last four. The No. 3 Cardinal’s 22nd sweep of the season came in Lexington, Ky., on Friday over No. 10 Minnesota at Memorial Coliseum. Inky Ajanaku’s 12 kills and 11 each from Carly Wopat and Brittany Howard powered the Cardinal to the 28-26, 25-23, 25-22 NCAA tournament victory.

USC Cages Cougars to Advance to NCAA Regional Final

There was a reason that Samantha Bricio and Ebony Nwanebu were named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Team. USC’s pair of outside hitters combined for 40 kills on Friday to dispatch BYU, 3-1 (32-30, 25-13, 21-25, 25-16), in the NCAA tournament to put the sixth-seeded Women of Troy in the Elite Eight. USC, which finished the contest with a .400 hitting percentage, was equally strong on the defensive end, recording 12 blocks at home at the Galen Center.

No. 3 Huskies Reach Elite Eight With Sweep

After two breezing in the first two sets of Friday’s NCAA women’s volleyball tournament match, Washington saw itself in a closely-contested third set. But they wouldn’t call the Huskies “elite” if the path wasn’t tough. Washington’s 25-18, 25-13, 26-24 sweep over 14th-seeded Kansas puts the third-seeded Huskies in yet another Elite Eight, the seventh in head coach Jim McLaughlin’s 13 seasons at the helm. The Huskies’ Krista Vansant logged a match-high 10 kills at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.
