UCLA voted preseason favorite in Pac-12 coaches poll
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - In a poll taken by the Conference’s eight women’s gymnastics coaches, UCLA was voted the preseason favorite to win the 2014 Pac-12 regular season, the Conference announced today.
The Bruins received 46 points with five first-place votes and were voted fourth in the national preseason coaches poll. UTAH tallied 45 points, receiving the remaining three first-place votes and was tabbed second. STANFORD sits in third place with with 37 points in the poll. The Utes and Cardinal also made an appearance in the top 10 of the national poll with the sixth and ninth spots, respectively. OREGON STATE is slotted fourth in the Pac-12 poll with 31 points and represents the Conference with a 12th-place ranking in the national poll.
The second half of the poll is led by ARIZONA, which claims the 17th spot in the national preseason coaches poll. WASHINGTON is picked sixth, with a spot in the national top 25 at 20th. Rounding out the poll, CALIFORNIA and ARIZONA STATE were picked seventh and eighth with a national ranking of 22nd and 25th, respectively. All eight Pac-12 teams are ranked in the top 25 national preseason poll.
This is the third-consecutive year of the preseason coaches poll with UCLA claiming the top spot. The Bruins finished as the runner-up in the 2013 Pac-12 Championships to the Beavers.
