WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - CALIFORNIA senior guard Justin Cobbs has been named Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for play from Jan. 6-12, the Conference office announced today.

The Los Angeles, Calif., native averaged a double-double to lead Cal to a pair of road victories this week and give the Bears their first 3-0 start in Pac-12 play since 2009 and first 3-0 record on the road in league contests since 1957. He averaged 20.0 points and 10.0 assists, along with 5.5 rebounds and a .462 field goal percentage. Cobbs posted his first double-double of the season in the 96-83 upset victory over No. 17 Oregon, recording 20 points, 11 assists and six rebounds while going 6-of-13 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. He then led the Bears back from a 10-point halftime deficit at Oregon State, scoring all 20 of his points in the second half to go along with five rebounds, four assists and a steal. With his assist total for the week, Cobbs moved into fifth place on Cal’s all-time assist chart with 430 in 83 career games.

It marks the fourth-career weekly honor for Cobbs, making him one of only 22 Pac-12 players to receive four or more Player of the Week selections. He has earned the second-most weekly accolades for a Cal student-athlete, with former Bear Ed Gray receiving five awards over the course of his career. It is the 51st total selection for California all-time.

The Bears return to their home court this weekend, hosting Washington and Washington State. Cal takes on the Huskies on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. PT on ESPNU before hosting the Cougars on Saturday at 1 p.m. PT in a contest that will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.
